Reincarnated.

I’ve never thought of myself as normal person. I have different aspirations, i deal with things in a different manner, i love learning but hate the institution of school. I’ve sometimes felt as if i was born in a different time.

As fall term is finishing up and I only have 8 months of school left, i find myself wondering what am I going to do after graduation.Ive thought go to grad school, get a masters in religious studies. But then what? I don’t want to be stuck in an office the rest of my life. I’ve never pictured myself in a cubicle or sitting at a computer all day. I’ve always seen myself studying culture and people through its religion, language, music and dance, food.

I’ve always wanted to travel, see the world, visit ancient ruins and absorb the culture of the people. The world always amazed me when I was in elementary school.  In my 5th grade class, I did a report on ancient Mesopotamia, the ancient civilization which created the irrigation system. That opened my eyes to a somewhat forgotten field of study, uncovering the ancient past, studying peoples lives and religions.

If someone asks me where is one place I would love to travel my answer is EGYPT. I will not leave this earth until I see the beautiful pyramids, witness the intricate hieroglyphics up close and personal, see how this great empire has shaped the culture it has today.

Last year is when I finally decided to change my major to Religious Studies. Ancient civilizations were often created in the image of its religion, so in order to understand the architecture, art, writing, hierarchy, myths, you need to first understand its religion. I have never been more excited to go to class or do my homework for my classes. Each day I am totally amazed by religion and its people.

For me college is not to necessarily get a job  and work the rest of my life, it is to fuel my passion for ancient studies and find myself. So as my senior year as an undergraduate winds down, I am faced with the decision of what to do next.

As for now, I will continue to study religion and ancient beliefs and find joy in every moment of it.
